Handy Hints
- Optimal Placement: Larger items like sheets and towels should go on the inner lines, while smaller items can go on the outer lines for efficient drying and better weight distribution.
- Sheet Styling: Sheets can be hung on the Handy Line® in three different ways:
a. U-Turn: Fold the sheet in half lengthwise, peg a corner to one line, run it down the length of that line, then “turn” at the end for faster drying. Spaced lines ensure better airflow, saving time.
b. Sling/Hammock: Create a hammock shape by pegging each corner to adjacent lines, then peg the edges of the middle up for more air flow.
c. Tent: This method is useful for larger and heavier items like quilts, doonas, or rugs etc. Lay large items over all lines for efficient drying. Folded hand towels placed under the item(s) on each corner of the clothesline will protect delicate materials. - Towel Tactics: To speed up drying, hang towels horizontally. Bath sheets can be hung similarly to bed sheets.
- Balance Matters: Ensure that your washing is evenly balanced on both sides of the Handy Line® to prevent unwanted tipping.
- Windy Weather: On windy days, avoid placing the Handy Line® out in the open unless it’s securely tethered. Our Handy Line® models come with a handy loop under the main beam with the anchoring strap attached. You can hook the other end of the anchoring strap to a weighted object over 6kg. If using a tent peg, angle it into the ground for better stability.
- Storage Solutions: Use Peggs Handy Hooks to conveniently store your Handy Line® behind a door or on a wall.
- Tension Tips: Periodically re-tension the lines for optimal drying of your laundry.
- Stay Clean: Keep your Handy Line® sparkling by wiping it with a damp cloth. Don’t forget to spray under the main beam with surface spray to deter any unwanted guests.
How to use the Anchoring Strap
Secure your Handy Line® on windy days! Simply peg the strap into the ground or tie it to a fixed or heavy object for extra stability.
How to unfold your Deluxe Handy Line
Unfolding is easy— just pull the legs away from the main beam of the Handy Line® until they lock in to place, repeat on the other side and you're ready to dry. When you're done, fold it away to keep your space clear and tidy.
How to tension your Deluxe Handy Line
Over time, or after drying heavier items like rugs, large blankets and doonas, your Handy Line® may need a quick re-tension to keep it performing at its best.
